Quite a delicacy, pick whilst the leaves of the artichoke head are still closed. Eat the fleshy tip at the bottom of each leaf and the heart of the artichoke (large fleshy bit in the centre). Do not eat the actual leaves. Look after them and you will not need to plant them again for a few years, they can last for up to 5 years when treated well. One of the best producing artichoke varieties
