A small round bright yellow-orange berry about the size of a cherry. Gooseberries are very pricey to buy and seeing as the plant will die off after the first few frosts and sprout again in spring it is well worth establishing in the garden. The berry is covered in a papery kind of sheath that starts out green and ripens to a tan yellow colour through which you will see the berry.

A very unusual fruit. The skin is dark yellow when the fruit is ripe and the flesh is lime green with the seeds embedded in it. Technically more a cucumber than a melon. Scoop the flesh out of the rind to eat it. Go on, give it a try.
